Auto Dealership Portal
The client here is a famous dealership company in Canada. They were using Sharepoint 2010 on-premise for their dealership locations and various departments within these locations. Since they had not updated their infrastructure since long time and SharePoint 2016 was the latest version they consulted us to migrate the content of their existing portal and customize everything to SharePoint 2016.
The client here was large dealership with multiple locations and multiple SharePoint sites managed by admin. Client was using SharePoint 2010 on premise for document management. There were large number of files and document libraries to be migrated but client wasn’t sure about which version to migrate to.
Tough SharePoint was used for document management it was not properly planned. Too many sites were created for all locations and most of them were not used since more than 3 years. There were no dashboards, permission hierarchy or versioning of documents to check who edited the document. After analysing their daily usage of SharePoint Portal we realised they were maintaining far too many servers for the 2010 version of SharePoint (one for each Dev, QA and Production. Also since there were only few admins maintaining the entire portal it was easier for them if everything was cloud based and automatically maintained. We suggested to move the entire portal to office 365 SharePoint and migrate all the data either using PowerShell or Sharegate or Manual migration.
Since there was very basic branding and no dashboards on the older version , we created responsive branding and managerial dashboards for higher productivity. The migration report was also given to make sure all essential data was migrated.
